One night in 1987, my high school classmates and I were on our way back from a Model United Nations conference in San Diego. The two busses made a stop at a convenience store, and all but two students went in to buy snacks. Only me and the girl I liked, who was assigned to the other bus, stayed behind. The windows were fogged, so we wrote messages to each other with our fingers on the glass. This song was playing on my Walkman.
